Alumni Working Paper Wins 2011 LIS Aldi Hagenaars Memorial Award
26 July, 2011
Lubomira Anastasova-Chirmiciu (PhD 2010) has recently won the 2011 Aldi Hagenaars Memorial Award by the Luxembourg Income Study (LIS) Cross-National Data Center for her LIS Working Paper titled “Are Immigrants Paid Less for Education?”.
Lubomira wrote the paper while finishing her PhD dissertation with the support of the Global Development Network, which funded the initial research that resulted in the winning paper as part of the ongoing GDN Regional Research Competition (RRC).
For more information about other GDN RRC grants in Central Europe, please visit CERGE-EI’s GDN RRC page.
The award is named after Aldi (Aleida Johanna Maria) Hagenaars, who was among the first female chaired professors of economics in the history of the Netherlands.
It is given once per year to a scholar under the age of 40 whose LIS or LWS Working Paper from the previous year best demonstrates the qualities of good scholarship that Aldi Hagenaars exhibited.
