CERGE Charles University

The Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education (CERGE) was established in 1991 as the first modern doctoral program in economics in the post-communist transition. CERGE is a higher education institute of Charles University, which was founded in 1348 as the first university in Central Europe and is among the oldest universities in Europe. CERGE was created with additional support from the international academic and a donor community.

CERGE grants MA and PhD degrees in Economics accredited by the Czech Ministry of Education, and produces frontier economic research as part of the CERGE-EI joint workplace.
