Michal Kejak comments on this year's Nobel Prize in Economics for Forum: the magazine of Charles University.

This year's Nobel Prize in Economics - officially the Bank of Sweden Prize for the Development of Economic Science in Memory of Alfred Nobel - was awarded to a trio of American scientists - Ben Bernanke, Douglas Diamond and Philip Dybvig for their "research on banks and financial crises". The opening lecture of the Week at Czech Academy of Sciences titled "The End of Welfare", featuring economist Filip Pertold (CERGE-EI), David Klimes (Charles University) and Tomáš Kostelecký (Academy of Sciences ), on 31 October at 6:30 pm in Přítomnost Cinema.

How does scientometric information help evaluate scientific results? Where do different Czech scientific disciplines stand in relation to the world? 

These questions and more have been answered by economist Daniel Münich in a lecture of the Week at Czech Academy of Sciences on November 3 at 16:00 at the Economics Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic - Schebek Palace in Prague 1.
