The Passing of Alan B. Krueger

19 March, 2019

It is with great regret that we announce the death of long-term CERGE-EI Executive and Supervisory Committee (ESC) member and renowned labor economist Alan B. Krueger, who passed away on the weekend.

He was a professor at Princeton University, who advised President Clinton, and was chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers under President Obama. Professor Krueger was also well known for his work on the effect of minimum wage on employment. His membership on the ESC coincided with difficult post-crisis years in the Czech Republic, and his guidance and help in steering the institution though these times were greatly appreciated. He was 58 years old. Our thoughts are with his family.
