Research of Academic Mobility Extended in Cooperation With Leiden University

11 September, 2020

Martin Srholec and Vít Macháček are moving forward with their research on scholars’ mobility in cooperation with colleagues from Leiden University. By using the Dimensions database the research team could significantly extend the original study 'Where do universities recruit researchers?' published earlier this year.

"Using the Dimensions database allows us to extend the original analysis, which was limited to selected universities, to all major universities around the world, and also in developing countries," said Martin.

This approach makes it possible to track the mobility patterns using a unified methodology for virtually all universities in the world. The result of it is an extensive and representative comparison within countries, but mainly international. Moreover, it is possible to observe the mobility of researchers in specific academic fields.

The first results of the cooperation with Márcia R. Ferreira, Nicolás Robinson-García, and Rodrigo Costas are presented in this blog post. “We are working on a more detailed journal article,” Martin Srholec added.
